2025 Term 1 Reopening School Mass

CTKIS 70TH ANNIVERSARY | NOVEMBER 2025

Christ the King International School (CTKIS) has unveiled its 70th anniversary celebrations, marking seven decades of scholarship, faith, and service. The official launch, held on November 26, 2025, was graced by the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Accra Archdiocese, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, C.S.Sp.

Founded in 1956 under the motto “That all may be one,” CTKIS has grown into one of the nation’s respected centres of learning, known for academic distinction and strong moral formation. Through the years, the school has nurtured capable, innovative individuals who have gone on to contribute meaningfully to Ghana and the global community.

Mr. Francis Kobena Addison, CEO of QIC and an alumnus who chaired the launch, reflected on his formative years at CTKIS. He credited the school with instilling the discipline, resilience, and core values that shaped his professional and personal journey.

He noted that the 70th anniversary is a call to invest in the next generation, stressing the importance of strengthening facilities, advancing innovative learning, and deepening values-based education through collective effort.

Mr. Samuel Kingsford Arthur Esq., Board Chairman of CTKIS, expressed pride in the school’s achievements, highlighting its role in shaping many of the country’s distinguished professionals. He explained that the anniversary theme, “Honouring 70 years of grace, growth, and greatness,” reflects both gratitude for the past and a clear vision for the future.

He added that while the school continues to thrive, the years ahead will require stronger dedication and collaboration. He encouraged students, parents, staff, alumni, parishioners, and partners to join in thanksgiving and renewal as CTKIS prepares for its next chapter.

Rev. Fr. Dr. George Obeng Appah, Chairman of the Education Committee, speaking on behalf of the Archbishop, remarked that in a rapidly changing world, CTKIS has spent seven decades shaping the hearts and minds of children, instilling values and discipline that guide them far beyond any examination score.

The Headmistress, Mrs. Portia Felice Mensah, reflected on the school’s long journey and used the moment to honour the steadfast dedication of founders, patrons, teachers, and parents whose tireless efforts have nurtured intellect, built character, and raised leaders.

She called on all stakeholders, especially the alumni, to renew their commitment to providing world-class infrastructure that equips learners for an evolving global landscape. She encouraged the community to combine its strengths, skills, and resources to bring meaningful transformation to the lives of students and the wider community.

The anniversary celebration will span an entire year, featuring community outreach projects, leadership forums, student essay and art competitions, fundraising events, and alumni reunions. These activities are designed to inspire unity, excellence, and renewed purpose within the CTKIS community.

The school invites friends, parents, alumni, and well-wishers to support the CTKIS Redevelopment Project through the CTKIS 70th Anniversary Account at Standard Chartered Bank, Liberia Road Branch, Account Number: 0100113350101.
